This is a Bombay Gin so of course the botanicals are clearly labeled on the bottle. Bombay Sapphire brought me back to gin. Before you download it, be forewarned: the questionnaire takes 45 minutes. At a time when the rest of us were making really, really bad hair decisions, Bombay took branding and production in an entirely new direction. Again, I think this is part of its appeal.

Bombay Sapphire is marketed in a flat-sided, sapphire-coloured bottle that bears a picture of on the label. Contrary to most gin journeys I have arrived at Bombay Sapphire vs. I used to swing back and forth almost with a mania between Tanqueray and Blue Sapphire. I know its a great gateway gin, and I give it a lot of credit for helping to show a generation of gin drinkers that gin can be more complex and have notes that are other than just juniper. The 10 precious botanicals used in their gin are held separate from the spirit in perforated copper baskets, and when the heated vapors rise, the distinctive flavor of the botanicals are released. I think that Bombay Sapphire deserves a lot of credit or what it does.

There might be more still-naming to come:. I have tried to find a better substitute in that time. This variety has another two botanicals, lemongrass and black peppercorns, in addition to the original ten. Overall A restrained style that is a proto-contemporary look at gin. Sapphire stands alone to me as the gin of choice in a martini as does Absolut in a vodka martini! Boodles and Beefeater person, with none quite knocking me out and all eventually becoming a bit boring.

Juniper berries are the seed cones of the juniper tree and bring a dry, fragrant, herbal aroma to our gin. I always come back to Bombay Sapphire. But, it is less hard than vodka and the hangover is less dreadful than rum. There was a recall, of course, hopefully before anyone made any significant tattoo decisions. I can no longer drink alcohol due to a stroke and my meds but allowed in a limited way some wine.
